The Drake Hotel
By: Anthony
If low-light ambiance, amazing service, rooftop heated patio,
and an underground is what you are looking for this Saturday night look no
further than The Drake Hotel. Located at 1150 Queen Street West in Toronto, The Drake Hotel
is everything you could ask for in a bar/club. As soon as you walk into the
doors, the atmosphere is something one has never seen in a typical downtown
Toronto hotspot: a place that offer’s three scene’s for the price of one.
The rooftop patio offers a lounge area accompanied by two rooftop bars.
Get there early in order to ensure sufficient seating for your party. A good
crowd of university and young working professionals fill’s the rooftop quickly.
An array of HIP-hop and EDM can be heard on the speakers while not overpowering
the crowd. The service upstairs is exceptional for an environment that is
consistently busy. I found my self waiting two to five minutes for the bar
tenders to grab me a drink, which for those that don’t know, that’s pretty
quick. Their drink selection is amazing but pricey for university students. I would
recommend starting at the roof top patio and moving your way down as your night
progresses.
The Drake Hotel is an amazing space to meet new
people with a wide bar display and a variety of different beers and drinks on
offer.
Now what about their underground? The Drake brings out the youth in its
crowd with a stellar light show and good music; people evolve into their own
party animal. Credit where it’s due, The Drake attracts a strong and consistent
crowd. However, like any hotspot, it fills up fast.
Overall The Drake is a special venue and will
continue to be a personal favorite of mine in Toronto. Next time you’re in the
city make sure to hit up The Drake!
